Sustainability at Orzu

Orzu was built around preservation rather than production. Every bag begins with vintage suzani textiles that already exist, fabrics that were hand embroidered decades ago and carry history, memory, and human touch within every stitch. By working with existing materials, we avoid creating new textile waste and give these pieces a second life in the present.

Our bags are handmade by experienced artisans who have worked with textiles for most of their lives. These are older professionals whose knowledge comes from years of practice, not factories or mass systems. Their hands know the fabric, the tension, the rhythm of sewing. We choose to work slowly, respectfully, and directly with people who understand the craft from within their culture.

Nothing at Orzu is rushed. Each bag is cut, assembled, and finished by hand. Because the textiles are vintage, marks, fading, and imperfections are left intact. These details are not flaws. They are proof of time, use, and authenticity. No two bags can ever be the same, and that is intentional.

We produce in small quantities and only use what is available. There is no overstock, no replication, and no seasonal waste. Each piece exists once and only once. When it is gone, it is gone.

Orzu believes sustainability is not only about materials, but about people. Supporting older artisans means preserving knowledge, dignity, and craft that might otherwise disappear. It means choosing human hands over machines and patience over speed.

This is our approach.

Old textiles. Experienced hands. One of one pieces.
Made to move forward without erasing the past.
